Thanks fellas. I'll get these all combined and uploaded.  Adding contracts data to them is the other big piece here once the AFL post season is over.

Just realised the TSL (Tasmania State League) has changed with it back to 7 clubs with at least one new club.

Hey Grenville,

Are you able to make the ratings sheet a Google doc so that we can all look at the ratings?

That way we can give our opinions and start having discussions over some players?

Thanks to all who worked on ratings - this is a great start. I've rolled them all together merged onto the first sheet. Uploaded here:
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/rP8cnmYCBeWPf7C567ZLMwJez7IJhwJZelDxaTotapI

I dont have accounts in the google stack, but if someone here uses google docs and can get this hosted & shared that'd be very helpful.

In the meantime here's the current distribution Vs targets from PC2011 (not saying that was "right" and we need to follow it, just a guide for comparison). Theres a couple of considerations here:
- AFL standard players being rated accurately relative to each other (so that stronger real life teams produce expected results etc)
- That whole set of AFL player ratings relative to the junior players that get generated in game for dtaft, and state leagues etc

I can alter distribution of generated players once we get AFL balance locked down. So, lets talk balance & i know Simon will be all over this :)
Rather than individual players just yet (subjective, and we're all going to differ in opinions) I'd like to get consensus on the distribution for the AFL population. That's key for contract calculations etc

My first impression is we're skewed light and want to bring players up from the 70 and under brackets.

I usually use a base of the lowest rated player being a 64 or 65. It does mean that a lot of players have the same or similar rating and there are only 1 or 2 points separating some best 22 players, but with the way the game is, I find that it is most realistic as coaches picked the best 22 for their opposition/game style, not necessarily the best 22 players on their list

This is also going off the way that we have done previous lists.

Here is the link to the spreadsheet that I have used and with some updated ratings/order, which I feel are the most realistic on current form (past 3 years)

Good reference, and interesting read, thanks mate.
Team selection algorithm has been changed pretty significantly when i implemented the new player model. I plan to change it up further to consider opposition team strengths/weaknesses too, so this will look different going froward.

All of the contest logic has changed (along with the whole match sim/ player mode etc), so i expect this to behave differently also.

Theres some downside to having them in too tight a range. Theres modifiers (home ground, leadership, confidence etc etc) that add or subtract a point or two here and there for contest scores. When skill ranges are tight it magnifies the effect of these.

What if we have a base of 60? That way it gives us a little bit more room to move with some players etc.
